I’ve finished my 235th video game. Here are my thoughts:
SteamWorld Dig is an indie game about a steam-powered robot that digs for valuable minerals in a mine below a shanty town that’s been nearly abandoned. As the robot digs further down, it discovers new subterranean biomes with more dangerous creatures and valuable minerals.

There is a bit of combat in SteamWorld Dig, and thankfully it’s not the focus of the game. Mining tools aren’t designed to be great weapons, and that part of the game doesn’t feel particularly fun. Thankfully, there is only one part of game that prioritizes combat. Exploring, finding loot, and upgrading makes for an addictive gameplay loop that I couldn’t put down until I got to the end.
SteamWorld Dig is a fun game with a fun setting, and it wraps up in a concise 4 or 5 hours.
I’ve tentatively ranked it 192 out of 235.
